How to Add a Custom Header to a Simple Blogger TemplateOne of the things new
bloggers enjoy about Blogger blogs is their simplicity; they're
relatively easy to set up and to use, and make it easy for new bloggers
to get started. If you're getting tired of your basic header, one way to
dress up the blog is to insert a custom header. Since Blogger doesn't
make it easily apparent what size your blog's header is, perhaps the
toughest part about this process is finding out the proper dimensions
for the header. The following instructions assume you have already built
your custom header with the design program of your choice.
Step 1Open your blog to view it as it appears to others on the Internet.
Step 2Open a new window
-- click "File," then "New Window" -- and navigate to a free pixel
ruler, such as MioPlanet's Pixel Ruler or Pascal's Free Ruler for Mac.

Step 3Drag the pixel
ruler from the pixel ruler page and hover it over your blog's header to
determine how many pixels wide your header is. Note the number for later
use.
Step 4Open the custom
header you have created and check its dimensions. If the custom header
is wider than the current header on your blog, adjust its dimensions so
it's the same size as the current header, or even a few pixels less.
Save the custom header as an image file, such as a .jpg file.
Step 5Log into your Blogger account and click "Design" from the "Dashboard."
Step 6Click "Edit" within the "Header" box near the top of the "Design" page.
Step 7Click "Browse" in
the "Image" box and select the custom header you saved in step 4. After
the image loads to the popup box, select "Instead of title and
description" so no other text appears over your custom header. Click
"Save" to exit the window.
Step 8Click "Save" on
the design page to save all the changes you have made to the blog, then
click "View Blog." Your new custom header should appear in the right
dimensions on your blog.
